Concerns regarding proposal delays and hidden discussion post by admins

Dear Merit Circle (BEAM) DAO community,

I want to raise some concerns regarding the recent handling of my proposal by the DAO admins and bring attention to what appears to be issues that require further clarification.

Last week, I submitted a proposal to extend the MC to BEAM token migration period, following a 23-day discussion post where the community voiced significant support for the idea. However, my proposal is still pending and has yet to receive approval from the DAO’s admins. This delay is concerning, especially when considering that a similar proposal, submitted earlier this year by a community member (@tmfbernd), was approved much more promptly. I have reached out to @tmfbernd, who confirmed this.

Given that my proposal follows the established guidelines, I am puzzled by the lack of response. If there are any issues with the content or format of my submission, I am more than willing to address and correct them. However, with the migration period nearing its end, time is of the essence. We need to work toward a solution that benefits all parties involved before the migration window closes.

Additionally, I’ve noticed that the original discussion post, which garnered substantial community engagement, is now hidden from public view. This is concerning, as it restricts access to new and returning DAO members who may not have been aware of the earlier conversations. It also raises questions about transparency. Based on my observations, it does not seem to be common practice to hide discussion posts that are no longer open for commenting, especially when they involve topics of significant interest to the community.

It is crucial that we maintain open and transparent dialogue within the DAO, and I believe no member of this community wants to see negative reports or speculation about silencing debates in major crypto news like CoinTelegraph.

Therefore, I’m creating this discussion post to seek clarification from the admins on the following points:

  1. Why has my proposal to extend the migration period not yet been approved or addressed?
  2. Why has the original discussion post been hidden from public view, and what is the reasoning behind this decision?

I hope to receive a prompt response from the admins so we can continue fostering a productive and transparent discussion around this important issue.

Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Hi @Cal, thank you for writing this and I agree with all of your points. The archiving / auto-locking of discussion posts makes it very difficult to keep this conversation ongoing for a long enough period of time. Nonetheless, the multiple recurring posts and subsequent responses demonstrate that there’s a real amount of interest in getting this done. It’s only fair that the team consider your proposal and either approve or address it.

I agree with all of the points above. Thank you so much for making the effort bringing this to light, I would have missed it despite being an affected eMC holder like you.

I agree with all the points mentioned above. the extension is something that the admin should handle fairly, openly and speedily. A lot of eMC are at stake and whose holders have been supporters since the very begining.

Thanks for the support. However, still no replies from admins or approval/rejection of the proposal. This is sad.

@Cal i agree with you on these concerns. I have written to the DAO regarding these same concerns, including why is the discussion post hidden and why has this not gone to a vote. I was trying to figure out how to reach you but did not know how to do that so I am glad you reached out. I find this very concerning and the DAO has not responded to my emails about this. I am happy to help in any way but do not know what to do or how to reach anyone. How did you get this email out to us? I can’t seem to be able to start a discussion post either. They are just squashing our voice.

@Gamelady, I was still able to create a discussion post and tag everyone who responded to my first one.

I haven’t had any luck reaching the DAO admins either. The Telegram group is not very useful, so there are no real answers to be found there.

I wish I knew how to proceed. This really seems criminal. I continue to email them but they do not respond.

@Cal,

Can you tell me if you are receiving this email? Can you email me directly at Allison.shaw@me.com.

Thank you,
Allison
